Vote Run Lead, Ayada Leads, Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment, and MaivPAC are hosting a fall training for first generation and New American women in Minnesota who are contemplating or interested in running for public office at the local, county, or state level. At this training, attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to craft and deliver a compelling stump speech, as well as the nuts and bolts of running for public office.

New and first generation American women make up approximately 4% of the population in Minnesota, but represent less than 3% of local or state government officials . As the fastest growing populations in Minnesota, first generation and New Americans are key to the strong and representative democracy we all deserve. For example, in the State Legislature, the People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus has built a strong multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-generational coalition to push forward progessive solutions for a stronger Minnesota. This training seeks to grow those powerful coalition building best practices at all levels of government.  

Ayada Leads’ purpose is to harness the political & social power of Diaspora women & New Americans so that they can incorporate their values and policies into the public sphere. 

Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment is on a mission to amplify the voice and power of Muslim women. RISE imagines a future where all Muslim women are connected, reflected, celebrated, and emboldened. 

MaivPAC is a registered Political Action Committee dedicated to mobilizing Hmong American women to support candidates whose values and principles demonstrate a commitment to Hmong American women and families' issues. The issues are economic security, education and healthcare. 

Vote Run Lead is fighting to create a more inclusive and reflective democracy and the organization is committed to unleashing the political power of women as voters, candidates and leaders to create and sustain an equitable democracy.
