Power Through Education Series: How Peer Groups Can Help Women Build Power W/ Dr. Stacey McManus & Amelia Newbury

Dr. Stacy McManus and Amelia Newbury will provide an overview of the GROW model and how to create meaningful goals, experiment with low-stakes practice, seek feedback, and create accountability. They'll also cover how you can do this on your own, with a colleague or a peer coaching process.

Dr. Stacy McManus is an industrial and organizational psychologist specializing in executive and leadership development. Previously a senior consultant at Monitor Executive Development, she has worked with clients in a variety of sectors, including industrial goods, financial services, pharmaceuticals, technology, and education.  Previously, Stacy  taught at the Molson School of Business in Montreal and Harvard University in the Division of Continuing Education. She has written about mentoring relationships, career development, leadership, teamwork, performance appraisal, organizational learning, and organizational research methods. In addition, she has co-authored best-selling HBS cases on topics such as customer service, product development, operations management, and organizational learning. Stacy has been active in professional organizations, serving on the leadership council at the Academy of Management for five years. She was a Presidential Scholar at Auburn University where she earned her BA, and a Gower Scholar at the University of Tennessee where she earned her MBA. She earned her doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology as a Bonham Scholar at the University of Tennessee where she also was a Leadership Development coach for students in the Executive MBA and Physician Executive MBA programs.

Amelia Newbury is an executive coach and accomplished facilitator, helping senior leaders and their teams to establish new working dynamics in tough organizational contexts. She facilitates Authentic Leadership programs for the Center for Collaborative Leadership.Amelia also facilitates strategic retreats, team building exercises, and helps small groups with conflict resolution. Amelia also has more than twenty years of experience creating winning strategy and high-performance teams that drive growth. She has launched and grown five companies from start-up to success. Before becoming an independent consultant, Amelia served as the Chief Operating Officer at the Authentic Leadership Institute where she set product strategy into motion and grew the company by several multiples in revenue. Amelia also served as the Chief Content Officer, and interim Chief Executive Officer for a Healthcare technology company. Prior to that, Amelia was an Associate Partner at the Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte), a global strategy consulting firm established by Michael Porter. Amelia holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior from Cornell University where she also studied Organizational Development at the graduate level. Amelia is an inventor and holds rights to several US Patents.
