The Story of Us
Vote Run Lead trains women to run for office, and win, reaching over 55,000 women all across America. Vote Run Lead alumni are serving on city councils, county boards, state houses, supreme courts, and in Congress.
Our co-founders and leaders have been working together for nearly 15 years, with a growing family of team members in 6 states, and a national trainer pool of the country’s best political coaches.
Launched in 2014, today Vote Run Lead is 4 times the size of our start, reaching tens of thousands of women — nearly 60% of whom are women of color, and 20% of whom are from rural America. We are working rapidly --- with partners like the YWCA USA, and New American Leaders and local women’s foundations --- to increase women’s representation at every level of government.
Wondering How We Do It?
Through our award winning Run As You Are™ curriculum women are encouraged to build campaigns based on their personal beliefs and values in order to serve the communities in which they live. Our supportive online community of women are gathering to share their campaigns, goals, and expertise with a culturally diverse group of women leaders who are more than prepared to hold public office.
“I was a little bit hesitant, because I had been to several trainings and had been through the 101’s and had been told over and over again that ‘you’re just going to have to raise funds’, and I wasn’t really sure if I was going to get much out of it, but I decided to go anyways; and I am so happy that I did. Why Vote Run Lead?
There is an urgent need for a larger wave of women - one that is more diverse and more intersectional - to step up to lead within our democracy. At every level of government, more women means greater impact and efficiency. Vote Run Lead is reaching a community of leaders ready to step up , fight for our democracy, and tackle systemic reforms with bold ideas. Both the policymaking of women leaders and the power of their representation are needed to continue towards parity and equality. The public offices available for women to serve are endless and we are confident that there is a place for every woman to take the lead.
